Measuring Guide

All Anderson sod is sold by the square yard. When the area in square feet is determined divide by 9 and round to next full number to get square yards.

It’s always a good plan to add and extra 5% to total for wastage. Better to have more than not enough to finish the job.

For more complex yards it’s best to draw the area and break down into sections for measurement. Then total the areas measured in square feet and divide by 9 to get total square yards needed.

Area of Square or Rectangle

Length x Width

Example:
"B"ase is 10 feet and the "H"eight is 10 feet
10’ x 10' = 100 square feet

Area of a Triangle

(Base x Height) Divided by 2

Example: “B”ase is 10 feet and the “H”eight (base to point)
is 20 feet then divided by 2.

= 10 b x 20 h divided by 2
= 100 square feet

Area of a Circle

3.14 x Radius Squared (x2)

Example: Circles’ radius ( r ) is 10 feet. Multiply the known 3.14
by the radius squared.

= 3.14 x 10 X 10
= 3.14 x 100
=314 square feet

Conversion Table

9 Square Feet = 1 Square Yard
1 Square Foot = .0929 Meters Squared
1 Square Yard = .8361 (or .84) Meters Squared
1 Square Meter = 1.196 (or 1.2) Square Yard
